EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, VBCF
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose
mission is the eradication of Breast Cancer through education and advocacy.
The Executive Director provides leadership and strategic direction in carrying
out our mission at the direction of the Board of Directors. The Executive
Director develops and maintains strong ties to the nonprofit, business, and
medical communities to support the efforts of VBCF in the fight against breast
cancer. Responsibilities include management of daily operations, supervision
of paid and contract staff, fiscal management, fund development, management
of board business and public/media relations. The Executive Director, who
is hired by the Board of Directors, reports directly to the Board President.
Some evening and weekend hours required. Limited travel involved.
REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college
or university.
2. A minimum 3 years experience in nonprofit management.
3. Proven fund development record.
4. Excellent planning and organizational skills.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
6. Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures and socio-economic
groups.
DESIRABLE
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge of current trends in breast cancer awareness and advocacy.
2. Familiarity with consumer empowerment philosophy.
3. Prior advocacy, legislative lobbying experience.
