Honoring the life and work of Dr. Ellen Shaw de Paredes
Ellen’s Hope Luncheon is an annual event of the Ellen Shaw de Paredes Breast Cancer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) which provides free breast health services and education to the local underserved community, along with state of the art training for breast imaging doctors and technologists. The luncheon shares information with the community about the Foundation’s mission, the early detection of breast cancer. The event will begin with a silent auction and lunch will be served at noon. This year’s speakers will be Dr. Patricia Gould-Champ, Professor of Theology and Ethics at Virginia Union University and Pastor of Faith Community Baptist Church, serving the projects of Fairfield, Whitcomb, and Creighton Courts. She has established an empowerment program for the women in these blighted areas, and along the way she has encountered her own trials. Dr. Gould-Champ’s personal battle with breast cancer lead to the recent publication of her book, The Gospel According to Cancer.
The luncheon tickets may be purchased online through the Paredes Foundation’s website. Sponsor’s tables for 10 are also available, along with other levels of support for the event.
