State Advocacy Day

Be A Voice For Change!

Make plans now to join us for the 2024 State Breast Cancer Advocacy Day at the Virginia General Assembly in Richmond. Meet fellow advocates, learn about the legislative process, and have an opportunity to meet with your state elected officials. No previous experience is needed. Your personal perspective and passion for ending breast cancer are all you need to help make a difference! VBCF will provide transportation to and from the General Assembly from the VBCF Richmond office.

VBCF’s top legislative priority for the 2024 General Assembly will be HB230, a bill to eliminate out-of-pocket costs for diagnostic and supplemental breast imaging like MRIs, ultrasound, and diagnostic mammograms. HB230 will help Virginians access the breast care they need without the burden of expensive co-pays, co-insurance, or deductibles.

Orientation: VBCF will offer a virtual pre-advocacy day orientation and briefing to help participants prepare for Advocacy Day

Meet Fellow Volunteer Advocates: Park at VBCF’s Richmond office and ride down to the General Assembly via bus with fellow advocates and VBCF staff

Legislator Reception at the General Assembly: VBCF will host a reception for legislators and their staff to drop-in and discuss issues important to breast cancer.

Government in Action:  Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with their elected officials in groups or individually.
