VBCF Communications & Opt-Out Information
Users providing contact information on VBCF’s website may receive VBCF’s e-newsletter, VBCF’s bi-annual print newsletter and announcements about VBCF events. Collection and Use of Information
Visitors to our website are not required to reveal any information about themselves. Our web server automatically collects IP addresses, but not individual email or domain addresses, to compile data such as the number of visits to our site, what pages are visited, average time visited, etc. This anonymous data helps us measure and analyze site usage so that we may improve the design and content of our site. We do not link this information to personally identifiable information.
There are some sections of this site where you may choose to provide personal information, such as name, address, telephone number, and email address and fax number, to VBCF. The information we collect is used to fulfill your request and will not be shared with other organizations for commercial purposes. We may also use this information to notify you about updates to our website and/or contact you for marketing purposes. If you supply us with your postal address or email address on-line, you may receive periodic mailings from us with information about our services or upcoming events. Fundraising & Donations Policy
VBCF is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, and contributions made to the organization are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Funds shall be solicited in a respectful manner and without pressure. VBCF does not solicit funds by telephone nor do we employ third-party telemarketers. All third parties not directly affiliated with VBCF who wish to solicit funds on behalf of the organization must acquire written permission from the VBCF executive director prior to beginning any fundraising activities.
All donor designated restrictions that have been expressly accepted by VBCF executive staff shall be honored. In the case of monetary donations, donors who include their contact information shall receive a formal acknowledgement and/or donation receipt within 30 days of the VBCF’s receipt of the donation. Any requests to remain anonymous shall be honored. If the donor receives anything in exchange for their donation, such as a meal or event admission, the tax receipt shall clearly state what portion of the donation is tax deductible.
Contact information supplied to VBCF by donors will be used solely to fulfill their donation and shall not be shared for any reason unless permission is granted by the donor to share such information. VBCF does not sell or share donor lists. Donors who supply VBCF with their postal address or email address may be contacted periodically for solicitation purposes and/or with information regarding upcoming events. Donors may request to be removed from the mailing list by contacting VBCF staff at info@vbcf.org to request removal.
Credit Card Transactions
Credit card transactions are processed on VBCF’s website using a third party that offers industry standard encryption technology – typically 128-bit SSL. When Cardholder Information is stored in databases, the information is securely encrypted. All of the encryption methods use industry standard certificates. Cardholder Information is only stored for processing and then the data is deleted or reduced to the first and last four digits of the card number. Card Security Codes are never stored and are only used during the transaction and track 3 data from credit cards is not read.
Cookies
A cookie is a message given to your web browser and stored as a text file. This file transmits information back to the web site’s computer to collect information about your activities on the site or make it easier to use certain site functions. The main purpose of cookies is to identify users and possibly prepare customized web pages for them.
We use cookies to record user-specific information on what pages users visit and record past activity at a site in order to provide better service when visitors return to our site. We do not use cookies to collect or store personal information about our web site visitors.
