Saturday, April 25, proved to be a picture-perfect day in Blacksburg, Virginia, as 98 participants laced up their running shoes for our first annual Make Moves Against Breast Cancer 5K. Between the runners, walkers, and the dedicated supporters cheering from the sidelines, the energy was electric.
Thanks to our incredible sponsors and the relentless fundraising efforts of our participants, we raised a total of $17,817.29.
This event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, Food City, Shady Grove Fertility, and Second to Nature. Every dollar raised directly supports VBCF’s mission – powering education, advocacy, and programs like our Screening & Diagnostic Services Fund, ensuring more Virginians can get the care they need.

“Participating in this 5K was such a meaningful and emotional moment for me. From the energy at the starting line to the pride I felt crossing the finish line, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. Crossing that line was proof of how far I’ve come since my diagnosis two years ago. This event was so much more than a race; it was a celebration of strength, hope, and support.” — Jennifer Marshall, Survivor
