Grace Rush
Grace went to VCU Arts for sculpture and is currently the office manager for Pink Ribbon Boutique, a mastectomy boutique in Henrico and a Certified Mastectomy Fitter. Her daily work consists mostly of insurance coordination, which means prior authorizations, checking patient benefits, appeals, and fighting denials. Grace is deeply grateful to be able to work somewhere where she feels she can and does make a difference. Through work, she has had amazing opportunities to learn more of the medical side of breast cancer from the incredible providers in our area. She has also gotten to connect with organizations like VBCF to learn more about how she can make a difference in my community and for our patients. “My interest in becoming a VBCF board member is rooted in my desire to find solutions and help people. There are many flaws in our healthcare system and insurance worlds. I want to learn more about advocating for the rights of patients. Additionally, I feel very strongly that inspiration and progress stem from a wide array of perspectives. I would like to add to the conversation by offering my experience as someone who deals with non-surgical post mastectomy care. I want to know ways to better serve the women I see, because they truly deserve it.”
