Please join the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation in welcoming three new members to its Board of Directors. Their professional expertise and personal commitment to the breast cancer community will help guide and strengthen VBCF’s work across Virginia.
Mandi Bishop is a wife, mother, multiple business owner, entrepreneur and a breast cancer survivor of almost 20 years! She found a lump at the age of 28 and had to battle for three months to receive diagnostic testing as her doctor told her she was too young to have breast cancer. Mandi has worked for 27 years with her father at their answering service, The Answer Network, a 24/7/365 call center service in Roanoke that helps businesses grow by never missing a call. In 2016, she and her husband became co-owners of Twin Creeks Brewing Company, a Vinton brewery and taproom built on good beer, strong community, and lots of heart. A lifelong resident of southwest Virginia, Mandi is deeply passionate about helping and uplifting her local community. She volunteers her time to support multiple charities and loves spending time with her family at the beach, curled up with a great book, or out on the golf course.

Joanne Dixon, MSHA, serves as the Imaging Services Director at Virginia Women’s Center since August 2023, bringing extensive experience from HCA Healthcare where roles included CT Technologist, Director of Imaging, Director of Imaging and Cardiovascular Services, Radiology Manager at Chippenham Hospital, CT Supervisor at Parham and Retreat Doctors’ Hospital, and various positions as MRI and CT Technologist at Parham Doctors’ Hospital. Her experience as a healthcare leader in diagnostic services, she understands the critical role that education, imaging access, and equitable healthcare delivery play in improving outcomes. And as a breast cancer survivor, Joanne has lived the physical, emotional, and logistical realities that accompany a diagnosis. Her journey – and the journeys of several family members who have also faced breast cancer – has instilled in her both a profound sense of urgency and a lifelong commitment to advancing awareness, access, and support for individuals and families affected by this disease. Joanne’s educational credentials include a Master’s degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management and a Bachelor’s degree in the same field from Champlain College in Vermont, as well as an Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology from the same institution.
Scott Hollenbeck, MD, FACS currently serves as Raymond F. Morgan Professor and Chair of the Department of Plastic Surgery, Maxillofacial and Oral Health at the University of Virginia – the first Plastic Surgery Department in the country. Scott received his MD from The Ohio State University. He then completed a General Surgery residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Scott’s interest in plastic surgery began during his breast surgery rotation while helping out the plastic surgery team after a mastectomy. With an established interest in both vascular surgery and surgical oncology, he found microvascular reconstruction for cancer to be his calling. In order to develop his reconstructive skills, he pursued a second residency in plastic surgery at Duke University. Scott started his professional career at Duke University, where he rose to Tenured Associate Professor, Division Vice-Chief, Director of Research, and Director of Breast Reconstruction. His clinical practice involves both reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery with a specific focus on breast cancer reconstruction. Inspired by his patients and mentees, Scott has focused to identify barriers for accessing breast cancer reconstruction both locally and across the nation.
